The daily life of a cog
Another day, another grey tinged sunrise
Another coffee drunk to dull your sleep
Again the choice between your blue and black ties
Another day page added to the heap

The fanfare sound of honk-happy car horns
Leading the parade to better days
Some crooner on the radio lost love mourns
And birds above are breaking through the haze

 Chorus:
Just a cog in the machine
 Living in a manufactured dream
Hoping to receive a better wage
You could jump, but you might fall,
You could find that this is all
Of the world, that had once seemed so big

Keyboard fingers type away the hours
Sharp minute hand struggles to the break
The cups await like old disgruntled lovers
For tea that tastes only slightly fake

And isn't there something that is better?
And wasn't it all meant to become clear?
And if it is the former or the latter,
Then why the hell are we all still here?

 Chorus:
Just a cog in the machine
 Living in a manufactured dream
Hoping to receive a better wage
You could jump, but you might fall,
You could find that this is all
Of the world, that had once seemed so big
