A HAPPY SONG

Trapped inside a world
I can’t understand
All that I know is
I don’t know how long this will last
I feel like I’m
In a race against time
It’s about to get worse
And there’s no way for me to know why

CHORUS
Somewhere I lost my strength to fight
And what’s wrong seems to be
What’s keeping me alive
Elsewhere, out there
I sense a chance to survive
I just gotta try
I just need a sign
Would you give me…a sign
A sign I’d get to live my life

Holding to something
That has hold of me
Everything I feel
Comes out when I break down and bleed
Tangled and broke
So unsure where to go
So hard to comprehend
I’m shattered and every touch feels cold

CHORUS
Somewhere I lost my strength to fight
And what’s wrong seems to be
What’s keeping me alive
Elsewhere, out there
I sense a chance to survive
I just gotta try
I just need a sign
Would you give me…a sign
A sign I’d get to live my life

Polka dot clouds
Cover muggy, tainted skies
I’ve got to work through these storms
If I want to see the sun rise

Crashing, falling
I start extending my hand
Just reaching out to you
Is the bravest I’ve ever…been…

CHORUS
But somewhere I lost my strength to fight
And what’s wrong seems to be
What’s keeping me alive
Elsewhere, out there
I sense a chance to survive
I just gotta try
Oh I just need a sign…
I just gotta try…
Give me a sign…
A sign I’ll get to live…my…life

The author's comments:
Keeping with the eating disorder theme i suppose lol i wrote this one day instead of cutting. it was a hard day in treatment and when i told the doctor i wanted to use unhealthy tactics, she told me to write out how i feel first, and this song developed.
