Stay Away

I felt so empty inside,
A weakness I tried to hide,
But I knew it wouldn’t slide
Forever…

But you held out your hand
And it felt like a wonderland,
Going on without you, I can’t do it anymore!

You know I’ll try to be your friend,
But I know it has to end.
I’m going farther than I should.
I think it would just be better
If I stayed away…

Every time I look in your eyes
I just can’t help but realize
It should come as no surprise
How I feel about you…

I can’t help how I feel, you know that
So I lock it away.
The other girl begs me not to touch you,
But if you feel the same way
I couldn’t trust myself…

To stay away, to keep my love at bay
Because if you feel the same way,
How could I say no to you,
Because I wouldn’t lie to you.
No, I wouldn’t lie to you
Because I love you.

What do I do with myself
To keep my love in line?
This burning love I have for you,
It’s no longer mine.

It has a will of its own,
And you it does desire.
It would take the largest ocean
To put out this crazy fire.

One look in my direction
And I can hear you say
That you love me, and you know that
I feel the same way.

Because I can’t help how I feel, you know that
So I lock it away.
The other girl begs me not to touch you,
But if you feel the same way
I couldn’t trust myself…

To stay away, to keep my love at bay
Because if you feel the same way,
How could I say no to you,
Because I wouldn’t lie to you.
No, I wouldn’t lie to you
Because I love you.

Writing this poem is how I coped with a bit of lovesickness. Curse you, puberty!
