"Never turn your back on Fear. It should always be in front of you, like a thing that might have to be killed." - Hunter S. Thompson

A pair of
raindrop colored eyes,
veiled beneath
a whirlpool
of golden waves.

Pearls of teeth surfacing.
Your smile is a siren,
summoning my soul
to the
oceans deep.
A stare
like an anchor,
dragging me down.
Water recklessly claiming
my lungs
as their new home

Thrashing to be free
of the sea’s grips.
A violent rush of calm
takes hold
and Poseidon loosens his grip.
Letting me float aimlessly towards the surface,
towards a new shore.
