You put your foot on my chest,
You clench your fist 'round my heart
You make me feel suppressed,
Like we never had a start.
You're always holding me down
With one more of list of rules
I feel like a clown
When I try to impress you.

Always wrong, but wait I'm right
You're always coming home too late at night
Don't have to explain yourself to me
I know now you're just not right for me.

You call out to me
Begging like a movie
You say it's been a year,
I say you're still not home.
You want one more chance,
But not tonight,
I'm the crazy one for not looking at the time.

You say I blame you
For all that's wrong in my life
I say I do love you
But you only make me cry
I keep running up
You always stop me short
Saying I'm far too eager
And not a good sport.

"But I'm running for you!"
I start to say
"Back and forth like a clown every day!"
You hold up your hand and tell me to stop
We're not a movie,
So I don't pretend to be strong
I'm begging you to just wake up and move on
Take me to dances
We'll fall back in love.
But then I realize that's not enough
So I stand up slow, you start to look stunned.

I brush myself off,
Wipe down my eyes
And I sang you this song
To tell you goodbye.
