"...in the end, you've got to become the change you want to see in the world."

Verse 1
I sit on the sidewalk,
Watching my mother in my arms.
I cry in her shoulder,
Wanting to feel her warmth.

But the rain has washed it away.
She’s gone with no goodbye.
It’ll be a while till I see her again,
So I still cry.
I wonder why.

Verse 2
I walk down the river,
Thinking of these memories;
How the fear made me shiver,
Waiting for her to come back to me.

‘Cause I can’t see through these tears;
Everything seems so blurry.
I can’t think straight without my mother here;
Everything is so frightening.
And I wonder why.

Bridge
The only person that ever loved me
Had to leave me alone.
And now the fear crawls up my spine every day
Just to be at home.

I wish I could be happy again.
Why did you go?
I didn’t want my life to be like this,
So depressing and cold.

And still I wonder why
Did God take you away
From my depressing life
‘Cause I needed you to stay.
I wonder why.

The author's comments:
Why did my mother leave me? Why am I not loved?
Why did my life end up like this? I wonder why.
Her mother died in her arms, and after that moment, she
doesn't know what to do with her life. The only person that
truly loved her is gone now, so what happens next.
