It must be hard for you to imagine
Someone trying to be the person
That they feel inside of their heart
Is really who they are
Because at one time in your life
You were offered the chance
To be who you are
But you didn't think you were good enough
To play that part
No you didn't think you were good enough
To play that part

But I won't let your bitterness
Keep me from being the person
That is dancing inside of my chest
That person is who I am:

I am one of a kind
I am my own hero
I don't have to look up to anyone else
In this world except for me
I am my own person
And I will always be proud of what I have done
You may think that I have lost for being who I am
But I believe that I've won

Yeah I believe that I've won
Yeah I believe that I've won
Yeah I believe that I've won

I am good enough to play this part
The script has always been in my heart
I don't need direction from no one else
I've known what to do
I've known what to say
To play the part of being me
Has always been too easy
Because this is who I am:

I am one of a kind
I am my own hero
I don't have to look up to anyone else
In this world except for me
I am my own person
And I will always be proud of what I have done
You may think that I have lost for being who I am
But I believe that I've won

Yeah I believe that I've won
Yeah I believe that I've won
Yeah I believe that I've won
I believe that I've won

I will never be
Who you think I should
I will prove you wrong
By becoming who I knew I would
This is who I am:

I am one of a kind
I am my own hero
I don't have to look up to anyone
In this world except for me
I am my own person
And I will always be proud of what I have done
You may think I have lost for being who I am
But I believe that I've won

Because I believe in who I am

The author's comments:
I was inspired by the fact that people have told me that if I don't change who I am I will never make it very far in life. But I have learned that being who you are takes you further in life than being who you aren't.
The inspiration comes from just staying true to me and not caring what anybody else thinks.
What I think about myself is the only thing that matters.
