Last night
Daydreams came to an end
I asked you out
you replied “Let’s be friends.”
Those words
Make me feel like I’m dying
But for your sake,
I stop myself from crying
Because I don’t
Want to make you feel bad
It’s not your fault, I’m not mad

But it’s a bittersweet apology
Because friends is all we’ll ever be

I’m always afraid to lose you
But I can’t lose what I never had
I wish you loved me too
Then there would be no need
For this bittersweet apology
But friends is all we’ll ever be

Tonight
Daydreams begin again
I can’t have you
But my heart will pretend
I know
You will never love me
But I can’t help
Being driven crazy
By this feeling
It’s hard for me to bear
I know you said it’s not fair

But it’s a bittersweet apology
Because friends is all we’ll ever be

I’m always afraid to lose you
But I can’t lose what I never had
I wish you loved me too
Then there would be no need
For this bittersweet apology
But friends is all we’ll ever be

I’m always afraid to lose you
But I can’t lose what I never had
I wish you loved me too
Then there would be no need
For this bittersweet apology
But friends is all we’ll ever be
But friends is all we’ll ever be

This is an old song about a girl I used to like. I never had the musical talent to record it, but I can hear it in my head.
