The earth, the earth
Holding close those caged sorrows.
The sky, the sky
Borrowing those good tomorrows

'Cause grey, yes grey
It's crawling to my side.
I lay , I lay
And sing a lullaby.

The trees, the trees
Hanging down that ancient silence.
The stream, the stream
Staring low with good compliance,

'Cause grey, yes grey
It's crawling to my side.
I lay, I lay
And sing a lullaby.
Oh don't you cry, sky.

My firebird please
Stay far from me.
You'll catch on the light of my snow town parade.
My firebird please
Don't come to me.
I'll sing with you, smile with you, some other day,
When the sky has its rays.

The night, the night
Burning up with colors distant.
The rain, the rain
Wishing I were not resistant.

'Cause grey, yes grey
It's crawling to my side.
I lay, I lay
And sing a lullaby
Well don't you cry, sky.

My firebird please
Stay far from me.
You'll catch on the light of my snow town parade.
My firebird please
Don't come to me.
I'll sing with you, smile with you, some other day,
When the sky has its rays.

Oh, I'll crawl out someday.
I will run without say.
Electricity plays
Through my limbs. I pray
That I'm alive.
I'm alive.
I'm alive.

And no one complains
For we're all just the same,
Have the same life to pay
For that peace serenade
If only, if only
We were still alive
Still inside.
I wanna survive.
I just beg to survive.
I fight to survive.

'Cause grey, yes grey
It's crawling to my side.
I lay, I lay
And sing a lullaby.
Well don't you cry, sky.

My firebird please
Stay far from me.
You'll catch on the light of my snow town parade.
My firebird please
Don't come to me.
I'll sing with you, smile with you, some other day.

My firebird please
Stay far from me.
You'll catch on the light of my snow town parade.
My firebird please
Don't come to me.
I'll sing with you, smile with you, some other day.

My firebird please
Stay far from me.
You'll catch on the light of my snow town parade.
My firebird please
Don't come to me.
I'll sing with you, smile with you, some other day,
When the sky has its rays.

The sun, the sun
Burning forth with sweet forgiveness.
My friends, my friends
Standing by my side.
The words, the words, the words.

The author's comments:
This song was greatly inspired by all quiet on the western front's nature imagery. Great book. It's on acoustic guitar. Chords are C, Am, Em, and then G occasionally and then alternating occasionally too, but nothing outside those four.
