Slipping Away

I guess you never lied to me
But you were never honest
You’re not who you used to be
Now you’re like the rest
You used to be so genuine
So quick to earn my trust
Now you got under my skin
As the past all turns to dust

But why?
Why’d you have to o and change?
Why did you become so fake?
Is it a lie, did you try to hide?
Is it that terrible being you inside?
You changed before my very eyes
And now you cut me down to size
You’re not real, your heart’s not pure
I can’t do this to myself, no more
Things just aren’t the same
So I’ll let you slip away

You always were a friend to me
But now you’re someone else
I wonder if you even see
It’s putting me through hell
I can still see who you were before
Behind your fake disguise
That gentle soul is now ignored
And led to it’s demise

But why?
Why’d you have to o and change?
Why did you become so fake?
Is it a lie, did you try to hide?
Is it that terrible being you inside?
You changed before my very eyes
And now you cut me down to size
You’re not real, your heart’s not pure
I can’t do this to myself, no more
Things just aren’t the same
So I’ll let you slip away

There’s nothing real about you, no
Is it just a show?
Or is this cold personality, the look you do
All that’s left of you?

But why?
Why’d you have to o and change?
Why did you become so fake?
Is it a lie, did you try to hide?
Is it that terrible being you inside?
You changed before my very eyes
And now you cut me down to size
You’re not real, your heart’s not pure
I can’t do this to myself, no more
Things just aren’t the same
So I’ll let you slip away
