Bring it On

Conquer a mountain then fall back into the shrubs,
The limelight’s on yet I’m in the background.
Sticks and stones may break my bones,
But words will never hurt me
Then shoot an arrow at my heart,
Aim it well and watch me fall
The crowd’s cheering;
Don’t you enjoy the standing ovation?
Yet, the point of my fall was only for me,
To pick myself up

Chorus

Keep shooting the arrows, the biting words
I flinch but I’ve got armour protecting my bones
Your crowd’s watching,
They snigger and cheer, cheer you on
You love attention so bring it on.

Call me what you must,
I bottle it up,
Twice believing, thrice lost
Cry me an ocean, dampen a pillow
And disappear as the curtains close.
Twist thy words,
Twist thy story and gain your popularity.

Chorus

Keep shooting the arrows, the biting words
I flinch but I’ve got armour protecting my bones
Your crowd’s watching,
They snigger and cheer, cheer you on
You love attention so bring it on.

Conquer a mountain then fall back into the shrubs,
The limelight’s on yet I’m in the background.
Sticks and stones may break my bones,
But words will never hurt me
Then shoot an arrow at my heart,
Aim it well and watch me fall
The crowd’s cheering;
Don’t you enjoy the standing ovation?
Yet, the point of my fall was only for me,
To pick myself up
