The rain is pouring down on this empty house again,
As the wind rolls through the window and hits me in the chin,
I give a silent shiver laying in my bed,
But to this day it takes me back to that memory in my head.

I want us back to the way we were 11 months ago,
I want the time in your arms again,
Like I used to know.

I miss your hugs,
I miss your lips,
I miss that reassuring kiss,
Telling me everything would be alright,
And I'd give anything to be back in yours arms,
I miss us.

Oh the thunder lights the sky
As I begin to cry
the lightning touches down in that empty field
Everything will be okay that's what you used to say

Turns out it didn't end that way
Now I lay here and silently I pray
Hoping things will eventually be okay
But for now...

I miss your hugs
I miss your lips
God only knows I miss that reassuring kiss
Oh how I'd give anything to be back in your arms
I miss us

The author's comments:
I was inspired to write this when I was laying in my bed looking out into my fields when a bad storm rolled in. It happened to be exactly three months after my friend died and I remembered how we always used to run off into the fields together and how much I miss him. I hope this inspires people to never take a person you care about for granted; one minute they are here and the next they could be gone.
