Well, I was waiting ‘till I felt sure
That you were gone beyond your door
I was low and I needed more
More than I needed a cure
Was right surely as I thought
That you had left what I had sought
But past the time when left I had ought
You jumped in and sighed, Boy you’ve been caught

CHORUS
Red-handed
Caught red-handed
Well, man, did you think you’d be caught
Red-handed

Well, I caught myself in a bind
Couldn't quiet what was on my mind
Clear thinking was fallen way behind
Like it was never meant to be mine
Well, right I knew it was not
But my standing was already shot
Just one more time, baby, I can’t stop
And I knew I wouldn't, not 'til I had been caught

CHORUS

So now, I'm only good to rot
My own fault and my own plot
Thought I could lend myself the lot
Little by little, but I was too hot
Was right surely as I thought
That you had left what I had sought
But past the time when left I had ought
You jumped in and sighed, Boy you’ve been caught

The author's comments:
I wrote this with 3-chord rock and roll solely in mind. Pretty self-explanatory, but I aimed for those simple beats (nothing wrong with that!), catchy concept of a title in the form of a phrase ("red-handed"), and a good lyrical body with an accessible conflict. Thanks for reading!
