She puts on her lipstick just like a movie star
And when she kisses you, all you can taste is tar
She smokes her cig and she starts to gloss her eyes
Let her kiss you once and you’ll believe all her lies.

She smacks her crimson lips and grits her yellow teeth
The thing she calls a heart is now only a broken wreath
Your worthless words are too expensive for her taste
There’s a bottle of champagne that she doesn’t want to go to waste.

Keep on drinking your cheap Chardonnay
And if you do, will you believe what I say?
Your paper bed is your throne,
Can’t spend the night on your own
And I can’t get you out of my head.

Are you sleeping on your own tonight?
Are you turning on that old red light?
‘Cause you taste just like sweat
and when your skin is so wet,
you sparkle just like the snow.
You look as if you know –
Are you pretending there’s a happy end?
Has your heart had its time to mend?
‘Cause with your smile so grim,
and while you’re staring at him,
you look as if you know,
you could be my Marilyn Monroe.

Her hair glitters just like champagne on ice
You ask her if she loves you and she doesn’t think twice
All she does is bat those eyes like she’s Lady Di
But, her body is tired to repeat the oldest lie

Keep on drinking your cheap Chardonnay
And if you do, will you believe what I say?
Your paper bed is your throne,
Can’t spend the night on your own
And I can’t get you out of my head.

Are you sleeping on your own tonight?
Are you turning on that old red light?
‘Cause you taste just like sweat
and when your skin is so wet,
you sparkle just like the snow.
You look as if you know –
Are you pretending there’s a happy end?
Has your heart had its time to mend?
‘Cause with your smile so grim,
and while you’re staring at him,
you look as if you know,
you could be my Marilyn Monroe.

Poison makes the heart beat
Light up her world
And turn up the heat
Poison makes the blood rise
She’ll eat out your heart
Just look in her eyes.

Are you sleeping on your own tonight?
Are you turning on that old red light?
‘Cause you taste just like sweat
and when your skin is so wet,
you sparkle just like the snow.
You look as if you know –
Are you pretending there’s a happy end?
Has your heart had its time to mend?
‘Cause with your smile so grim,
and while you’re staring at him,
you look as if you know,
you could be my Marilyn Monroe.

Don’t sleep alone tonight,
Marilyn Monroe
Don’t be on your own tonight,
Marilyn Monroe
You don’t have to cry...

The author's comments:
The lyrics are written from the perspective of a man who follows a heartless prostitute, bearing a striking resemblance to Marilyn Monroe, and chronicles her unhappiness as she lies to the men she sleeps with to survive on the streets.
