Standing alone
Walking steadily in the day
Waiting for the night to bring you solitude
If that will do anything at all really

So you wait and time ticks on by
Past the hours on the hands at the windowpane
Ticking like a pendulum
You’re just standing alone

At night you go to a club for love
Its full of hearts but not of souls
Beating hard but they never start
And you’re just standing alone in the middle of it all

Eyes wide open but body constricted
Snakes in the bedroom wait on rippled sheets
You go in, and come out with tears in your eyes
The little girl all alone

The next day you wait by the stoplight
Checking the sides of the road
Walking into a café
And still you’re there alone

He comes to take a seat behind you
Puts a paper to his hair
Tries to read, tries to stop the tears
He has been living so alone

You stop and look at him gently
Taking your hands to your lips
Somewhere deep inside your heart, your soul
That he is so alone

So you stand and go to him silently
Sitting down on the other side
He puts down the paper then
You both instantly smile

Then the day turns slowly into night
You both are still there
Hand in hand, mouth to lips
You know you’ll never be alone again
