Oh, I’ve seen the crimson flood
At the peaks of the morning stars
The fear and the sorrow and the pain
The darkness and the scarlet rain
But I won’t take it anymore

For I’ve seen my share of death
In those children’s tortured eyes
I was there when they died
I heard the children crying
I saw the freed souls flying
But I won’t take it anymore

It’s always the innocent who suffer
It’s always the guilty who lie
Now look at all the ones who’ve gotten away
And tell me isn’t the price too high

For I stole all those crystal tears
Fought the ones who begged to die Yes I made them live
And some never learned to forgive
But I won’t take it anymore

For I’ve seen the scars they’re forced to hide
In their hearts and on their skin
Oh, I must have taken thousands dead
And still the pain and cruelty spreads
But I won’t take it anymore

It’s always the innocent who suffer
It’s always the guilty who lie
Now look at all the ones who’ve gotten away
And tell me isn’t the price too high

For I carried them from their nameless graves
Set the children down among the clouds
When I saw the torment fleeing
I knew that I was agreeing
That I won’t take it anymore

Now the warriors are trying to defend the next generation,
CAPA tries to end this war,
Call it “Right” or call it “Wrong,”
Call it “Weak” or call it “Strong,”
But I won’t take it anymore.

This is a modern version of Phil Och's "I Ain't Marching Anymore."
My history teacher made us rewrite and modernize a protest song. Mine's told from the point of view of death, and it's protesting child abuse.
