Attempting Stitches

You break your arms
And still you try to crawl
Moving a thousand broken bones
Melancholy strangles your soul

Your broken heart
Bleeds the black poison
That broke your arms

Lean against the blinding streetlamp
Bloodshot eyes match the incoherent mumbling

Deep gouges open on your open back
From the dirty ten in your pocket

Your broken heart
Cracks filled with smoke
That scarred your arms

Find the one you love the most
And cling onto them tight
Before you know it
You’ll have stitches on your heart

Your scarred heart
Now covered in endless stitches
Sealing the endless pain
That seeps from the seams

Like so many broken up
Removed the bullet but cannot seal the hole
Try to stitch it up with the light
That slowly, so slowly
Seals your shattered heart
