Leave I Dare You

A beaten backpack full of you

Tears slowly run off your face
Staining the crumpled note
You’re leaving, now or never

Money spent on selfish addictions
Always bleeding from your afflictions

Chained to the broken cement
You’ve lost the will to struggle

Don’t leave now there’s so much you’re leaving behind
Beaten wasted
The poison you’ve tasted
Is causing you to run

Broken asphalt is your new home
The alley of first and main
Your eyes are swimming and you think your winning
As the needle slides under your skin

Don’t leave now, what are you running to
Perpetual hate
Always stuck in this state
Of running away

Linked to so many like you
Breathing in all your lies
Your excuses are futile

Begging on the dirty ground
For just one more ounce

Come back now, see what you’ve become
A wilted flower, bleeding your perfume

Taking in the putrid sewage
You’ve lost your way back
A wilted rose, seeping your perfume
Soaking in all the pain
Tried to escape this
Thought you’d find bliss
So, leave I dare you
