The Chronicles of an American Boy

Daddy comes home and kisses his wife,
They have a seemingly perfect life.
Little Boys were meant to be seen, not heard
But he didn’t care
As he continued to stare
At the kind of man he wanted to be

Daddy works a 9 to 5
In that little office building on Pleasantville Drive
He heads home for his cutout house
Dinner is on the table waiting for him
His Wife smiling, pretty, and thin
The Boy sits back and admires from afar

He’s got a loving family
That longs to make him happy
Works all day
To bring home substantial pay
Chasing that American Dream

Boy grows up, and makes his own luck
He drives a 1987 pickup truck
A Wife at home with a baby on the way
She’s a stay-at-home wife
With a gossipy social life
They live in a suburb outside of town

But things are not what they seem
When The Boy comes home mean
The Boy storms out on his Wife
He drives all night
After their fight
Wondering where his life went wrong

He’s got a hating family
Who never make him happy
Works all day
To bring home minimal pay
Chasing that American Dream

The Boy couldn’t see
What his life would truly be
If he chased that American Dream
