Tell Me Why

I was once just a happy little soul
Now all that's left are your treasures I hold
I sold my soul to the devil
And I got burned in the process

Tell me why--

We hate everything about you

I look at all my relations
My platonic loves
But where's my romance?
Why'd I let you go?

Tell me why--
I let it all slip away

The author's comments:
This song/poem is basically about an old relationship that I messed up. As a result, I threw away everything that I believed, and was able to embrace who I am. But, I ended up becoming miserable and pessimistic for a long time. Other than that, it questions why people (myself included) hated the idea of our relationship, and why he was blamed for who he was. It was intended to be very abstract.
