Under the Willow

May 19, 2012
Meet me under the willow
so massive and green
Meet me under the willow
were we are nothing of what we seem

Where I touched that snake
and giggled with glee
Where you fell off the top branch and nearly broke your knee

Where i found out that I was leaving
and you comforted me with a hug
When tears rolled over my tongue
you lifted my spirits with a little tug

Where I said something stupid
and we got into a fight
Where we came back the next day
and you told me it'd be alright
Where you carved our names into the bark with your knife
and promised we'd be best friends for life

Where we sat in the dark
and gazed up at the stars
When you pointed to one
and said, "See that one? That one is ours."

Where we said goodbye
and you told me not to cry
I promised if I never married another fellow
someday I would meet you here under the willow
