Stuck In The Middle

Stuck in the middle,
Can’t go left or right,
Though there is no way out,
You feel out of sight.

You never feel like you’re good enough,
Like you’re always coming in second place.
All you want is to feel loved,
So attention is what you chase.

People don’t care or notice you,
That’s the way you feel.
Everyone else seems to be more important,
You feel like you aren’t even real.

Stuck in the middle,
That’s how it all starts,
You feel like that in your family,
You’re the unnecessary, unwanted part.

The author's comments:
This piece is about middle child syndrome. I decided to write it because I know a lot of people who have it. Also I think people who don't have it should understand the way a child feels who does have it.
