Valley forge,
Oh boy I could go for some porage
All we have to eat is fire cakes,
I’d rather eat bugs or snakes.
All they are,are water and flour,
And kind of sour.
The winter is harsh,
The winter is bitter.
We have to build a hut,
But there are hardly any trees to cut.
Lots of the men though don’t know how.
We don’t have strong animals like a cow.
There are two thousand huts I see,
But I don’t see a single tree.
My clothing is tight,
My shoes don’t fit quite right.
My hands are freezing,
My nose is cold,
And the people in this room won’t stop sneezing!
There’s blood on my feet,
And we have no meat.
Everyone has wet socks,
And some people have chicken pox.
The smoke is making me sick to my lung,
Sometimes we do plays or songs are sung.
My buddy is ill,
With a disease that could kill.
He says it is from the water,
But the other guys say he a slow martyr.
My fingers are like oil,
It looks like this food is going to spoil.
Everyday we are trained by Baron Steuben.
We listen to him as he says attention!
We follow his commands,
And he tells us how each of us shoots or stands.
Sometimes we feel great,
And we get to celebrate.
We play cricket,
Then we see how many points we get.
We add up the sum,
And sometimes they give us rum.
There is women at are camp,
Let us just say they are the laundry champ.
It is very crowded in my hut,
And some people need a good hair cut.
It is very damp in here,
But we are all strong and we have nothing to fear.
My general’s name is George,
And I am at valley forge.

It was really well done and I believe it has very correct information on the lives of the soldiers at Valley Forge.
