The Yellow Birds
  Young soldiers set off
Yellow birds chirp and take wing
  Full of hopes and dreams
  Bang goes the gunfire
Wing stuck in a barbed wire
  Yearning to be free
  Little do they know
  That peace only rests within
  Those resting in peace

This haiku trilogy attempts to create a parallel between the young soldiers and yellow birds who symbolize joy, peace, and happiness. They both aspire to be free. However, their dreams of liberation cannot be achieved in reality. For war is a failed attempt to make peace, peace cannot coexist.
