Slowly the leaves fall.
Drifting above the cold ground.
Quiet in the breeze.

Birds fly to the warmth.
The flowers and sunshine gone.
Crisp air blows around.

The bright earth turns grey.
The summer sun fades into
The darkening sky.

A flurry of leaves,
Rustling around in the wind,
Join a growing pile.

The starry night sky,
It has never been this clear
Or full of beauty.

Brown, yellow, and red.
That is all there is to see.
Those too will fade out.

The cold takes over
And creeps into everything.
The earth starts to freeze.

Frozen raindrops fall,
Sparkling in the dulling sun.
More change has begun.

Leaves replaced with snow.
Brown, yellow, and red turn white.
Cold air gets colder.

New snowfall has come.
All thoughts of summer are gone.
Blanketed in white.
