It isn’t your fault,
they say, trying to console.
I know they are wrong

Stop blaming yourself,
they say, patting my shoulder.
But I know I should.

Why else would you leave?
They don’t blame me, no one does.
Except me. I do.

I think sometimes in life, things happen and you can't help but blame yourself. Sometimes it was actually you, but most times it wasn't. About two years ago, something happened in my life that I blamed myself for. I know now that it wasn't my fault at all. But at the time, things were different.
