Digging through the earth,
Tunnels winding; sandy hill
Summit of our home.

To work, to work, to
Live with brothers and sisters
Anonymously.

Underground, ruined
By foot or trowel or hoe,
Have to build again.

The author's comments:
This poem is written about the mind of an ant, completely not distinguishable when placed next to its neighbor, but collectively there is no mistaking them. Considering the epigraph, the idea grows and becomes a metaphor larger than the entire ant species.

"To dance is to be out of yourself. Larger, more beautiful, more powerful." --Agnes De Mille
