A wish

A star streaks across the night sky
A wish is made, hopes set upon the glowing trail
The star falls, like many of our childhood hopes
Our childhood wishes of a fair world
For everyone at peace
I wish we could go back to that innocence
Go back to the wishes of a better world
Because it seemed more realistic then.
But then we grow up
And realize how broken the world is
I wish we could go back to a child’s hopes
Go back to thinking we could do anything
Go back to thinking we held the world in our hands
Because we do.
We, the next generation, have the world in our hands
We can fix the mistakes of the past
We can make the hopes and dreams of a better place
Come true.
We can create world peace, one person at a time
We just have to try.
And keep hoping.
And keep believing
As long as you believe, you are already halfway there
So go the extra distance!
Do the hard thing, the right thing.
We, the next generation, have the world in our hands
We can fix this planet.
So when you see a shooting star,
Don’t just make the wish.
Act upon the wish to make it true.
Just remember to believe!
