When The Grass Was Still Green

When your home’s well has run dry
And there’s not a cloud left in the sky
The only life that seems to live
Is nothing beautiful or good

But don’t worry, they always say
The grass is greener on the other side anyway
But what happens when they lose their color?

And can you believe
That when we are old and grey
Our children will ask us
How life was back in our day

And we will solemnly smile
Glance down or look away
Hesitate to speak
But finally say,

Well, before the dry lakes
The excess floods,
And earthquakes

Believe it or not
There was life

Before the extinction of the Irish deer
The skies were still clear
The oceans were still clean
And the grass was still green
