Writing on the seats of the school bus

Childish rebellion
Surrounded by that musty, rubbery smell,
Laughter,
And happy melodies from the staticky radio.

Piles of stuff demanding to be sorted
Annoying
School clothes, photos, dusty participation trophies
The YouTube playlist,
Uplifting and bright, making cleaning better.

Sneakers squeaking on the gym floor
Self-consciousness overshadowed by excitement
A crowd of friends, balloons, and streamers,
Shrieking voices
Celebrating the drop of the DJ’s beat

Looking out the car window
The big world zooming past outside
Wondering about next year and the year after
Confusion
Soothed by comforting, optimistic lyrics.

A day when we’re no longer confused
Maybe successful and unafraid
Busy lives brightened with thoughts of back then
Memories
Accompanied by those unforgettable songs.

Darn it! I was hoping that maybe I could resist hearing any more about it. Avicii is such an amazing musician, I was so sad to hear that he's left us. You did a really good job on this, Anna. I have to thank you.
