A Hummingbird Sings
The flap of a wing.
A hummingbird sings,
pedantically,
with a piston beak,
of the vices and virtues
of love
of life,
of letting go,
of acting on instinct
but far
too
slow.
Deliberation,
the summation
of experience,
rustling leaves
in the wilderness of youth.
Permutated
from the permeation
of information
into cultural norm.
The mechanical hum
of our unnatural heart;
with valves of
obsidian
and gasoline,
it whirs to a start.
