Zero-Sum Life
Loyalty, honor,
the folly of man
undermined
by hypocrisy
and self-serving tendencies;
these ideologies
left to die
in light of Machiavellian,
Orwellian,
reality.
Betrayal, baseness,
behaviors based in
improving one’s own position
at the cost of saving face.
This is a zero-sum life,
a constant struggle,
every system upheld
by constant tension and dissension,
from rainforests to stock markets.
We, as humans,
live solely for the concept
of competition.
