They can heal a broken heart ,

Mend the soul ,
Encourage those who need ,

Comfort the sad ,

They can hurt , Words

discourage us.

Put you down as if you're six feet under

unable to breathe ,

One sentence or two ,

it doesn't matter

words hurt , their impact , great,

The words coming out of your mouth

telling me i'm wrong ,

slip out like eels swimming

in the dark ocean that is our lives ,

We want to build each other up

not tear each other down ,

yet being who we are ,

we continue to tear ,

and rip

apart the heartsb,

with our words,

decapitating

our bodies

deep within us

we can tear ourselves apart

just as easily as we can tear each other apart.
