Those Long Summer Days
NO worries in the world, NO school work to complete.
Just me, the summer, and the sunlight to do as I pleased.
Sleep in late or wake up early, it did not matter, for I did not have to worry.
And when the sun fell away, and the moon ran across the sky,
I did not want to go to bed,
for the anticipation of another summer day awaited once again.
The days were long and packed with fun.
But that would soon stop
The air became cooler.
The days became shorter.
Fall closed in fast,
and before I knew it,
I was standing at the foot of the classroom.
