Mist obscures the thicket.
The beast lumbers in the dull light.
The brush chatters in the breeze.
Where his friends wandered scratched his brain,
but hunger is the focus of his mind.
Grasping for a branch, the leaves dance in the light.
The beast’s matted hair tied in knots.

Lights twinkle as powder prepares to fall.
The light snow is silent...until it isn’t.
The beast halts its morning meal,
as a figure sprints through the brush.
The crackling of leaves is like a hideous laugh.
The beast’s matted hair tied in knots.

Shouts coldly pierce the calm.
Men emerge like ghosts from the white.
A mad panic: you realize you’re surrounded.
An object sings through the air with a horrified scream.
The beasts’ matted hair tied in knots.

Pain blows over you like the gale.
There is a thrusting motion, and then another, and another.
The creatures descend into organized violence.
The beasts’ matted hair tied in knots.

Noises are muffled and far away.
There is no escape as your eyes become heavy.
The beasts’ matted hair tied in knots.

Finally, a long silence drifts over your head...
The beasts’ matted hair tied in knots.
