I watch the forest patiently.
I hear the thundering steps of the creature,
thump, thump, thump.

I wonder where it lives.
Does it prefer the shadowed forest,
or the open field?

My eyes widen.
It peers out of the lining of the trees,
its tusks the length of a person.

It wanders slowly
with the curiosity of a child
but the strength of a giant.

Making wobbly steps,
because the ground is too uneven.
Yet it maintains its majesty.

The wonderful Hebior Mammoth,
stares me down with its eyes,
the size of softballs.

It willfully strolls towards me.
Cautious of my movements,
but still full of interest.

The wild creature comes next to me,
tossing and twisting its trunk.
It keeps a slight distance.

Its warm fur brushes me briefly.
It stays with me only for a minute,
before losing interest.

I watch as it goes back to the forest.
Listening to the thundering steps of the creature,
thump, thump, thump.
