Snow Day
Snow.
So much snow.
Big glistening flakes
Falling
From the gray overcast sky.
At first,
It lightly dusts the ground
Like a white sheet on the grass
But over time
It builds
And builds
Into a thick blanket
Over the cold earth.
It builds into piles and mounds
As the ominous trucks toss it off the busy roads.
As the snow builds,
So do the emotions.
Snow day? Snow day?
Plays over and over in my head
Like a broken record.
So much snow
But no snow day.
