Untitled Haiku
March 16, 2018
Mackenzie throws a ball at her brother.
Rhett pulls her hair in return.
The kids scream, tears stream.
I count the hours until their parents return.
I offer cookies, toys, and video games.
The children deny. My headache tells me to give up.
Controlling the TV remote, I turn on Finding Nemo.
The siblings release their grips and look up. Their eyes widen.
In unison with Pearl, the pink flapjack octopus, they giggle,
“Awe, you guys made me ink.”
