Fire and Water

Both Iconic Symbols
Both powerful in their own right
Some believe that water conquers fire
It suffocates the bright flame until the light has gone out
Nothing left but ash
What if
The fire is submissive
It lets water overtake it
No one knows why
But as soon as the water draws near
The fire falls upon itself and hides in fear
For years and years, we see fire as the enemy
It's destructive
It kills
What if the fire wasn’t harmful at all
The water is always boasting about its purity
What is pure about murder?
It finds its glory in the unhappiness of another
The fire hides forever
Suppressed by the waves
No way out
The delicate relationship between the two
Fires are powerful too
Fires can roar and grow and burst
They do not realize their own beauty
They are suffocated by their love for the water
They know they are stronger
There is no need for the fire to boast of its beauty
So it surrenders to the water time and time again
It dies again and again
The water does not care
It does not see the fires sacrifice
It only sees its own glory
The water bellows with pride as it demolishes the flames
The water thinks it is pure
The fire will never be free
What a toxic love
That is not even love at all.
