Two thousand eighteen
Our desks are side by side
Typing away on the computers
Same stress, same pride

Sweat dripping down our faces
When our boss enters the room
We are partners in the office
Same work we both do

The only difference between us
Besides my dress and his tie
He has more numbers on his paycheck
Equality is pushed aside

We go home to our families
Our incentive to support them
For food, clothes, and luxury
So basically-- capitalism

Why should the man who works beside me-
Make so much more money?
I’m supposed to be protected by
The Equal Pay Act of ‘63

Together we grew up
Same town, same dreams
Together at university
We earned the same degrees

So why does this still exist?
There really is no reason
Maybe 2018 will finally be the year
We make wage equality the new tradition!
