What happens down on the plains?
The zebras dance in their glory of
Black stripes and dusty hooves.
The lions roar in victory,
Their sharp claws hit the ground.
The hyenas cackle in the dark,
Their eyes gleam against the moon.
And the birds fly from tree to tree
In the blazing sunlight.
The snakes will hiss and the young
Children yell and scream in fear.
The gazelle and buffalo cross the streams,
The crocodiles munching.
The heat gleams down on the dusty plains,
Hot sand and hot rocks flowing in silence.
