Away In Afghanistan
You were absent and I was alone
Four months will slowly pass
And the hardest thing I had to do
Was watch the hourglass
I was growing and you were gone
Although it was not your fault
I talked to you a few times a week
Though it felt like our tie was at halt
Grandma was sick while you were away
You missed vacations too
But when I saw you at the airport
I shoved my way to you
The smell of you had been forgotten
You brought us back at ease
The Afghan air had settled on you
I got a whiff of the breeze
Happy tears were overwhelming
I had gotten my father back
Now it was time for you to go home
And get us back on track
