In the morning when I rise
I hike in the woods
A family of deer run in the meadow
I ponder my days catch
The smell of wet trees is strong
I hear the birds as they sing
A rattlesnake shakes his rattle
I feel the wind go by my face
It touches it with a cool embrace
Oh how I love a day in Nature.

The Sun is coming on strong
A bear is at the water's edge
Pondering his days catch
I stood as still as a tree
My feet planted, fear... yet excited
Will he catch as many fish as me?
A cabin near the water where I sleep
I hear natures music play
Oh how I love a day in nature.

The day ends as the moon rises
Crickets chirp
I hear a Owls hoot
The wolves cry for their pack mates
And I wonder after a day in nature
Are they as hungry as me?
Put down your Electronics
Go outside,laugh and play
And just like me
you'll love a day in Nature

I wrote this poem because I am the happiest when I am outside.

Mardel and Mattdogg,
I totally agree, Mattdogg knocked it out of the park! This was an awesome poem that caused me to visualize you in a day in nature.

Your use of sensory details and comparisons are quite impressive for an elementary school aged boy. Many adults twice your age struggle to create such a well written piece! Job well done!!
