Self-Expression
It’s the faults placed in our morals.
The hatred in our values.
What society finally learns to love
It comes to regret.
Where a human is born with a voice ready in their brain
And thoughts spurring from their lips.
When society says we need to be corrected
Just because it does not see beauty in the wind--
The same beauty that we do.
But we know, we know that it’s still there
Waiting for us to comment
And acknowledge its presence.

I was inspired to write this poem mainly as a result of the effect of society on personal values and opinions. I also wanted to include a piece that has a blend of internal vs. external struggles and how they cause conflict.
