One Sided
14 years old
losing faith
he would never come back
Go home
crying
he had kissed another girl
in her classroom
mocking her
Trying so hard
to be alright
for how can love
that once burned so bright
diminish so quickly
on one side
15 years old
ever more beautiful
than the year before
so many guys
vying for her attention
wanting to kiss her lips
But there was no one
for her except him
He was her one and only
even though to him
she was just a number
another girl he had pulled in
and destroyed
16 years old
finally realizing that she
would always love him
Go home
another letter
another note
another profession of love
Another useless scrap of paper
another reason she would never
be truly over him
17 years old
what is love if it cannot
be shared
So many nights
crying alone in her
bedroom, wishing she
had his love
Pain stabs her heart
as she closes off
the love she feels for him
Love on both sides is
the most beautiful thing
Love on one side
is torturous pain
