we drive for hours, up and down these neon-lit roads
our loud laughter keeping our minds awake
we carefully watch a short film of the night
two bodies slowly walking the streets,
kissing one another's soft lips
wishing for each moment to last

until it is gone

the sky is as dark as running ink
and these memories are just as permanent
