I fall, I rise, I make mistakes, I live, I learn, I’ve been hurt but I’m alive. I’m human. I’m not perfect but I’m thankful.

I have left my home for a chance at a better life,
Everything I had is gone:
My money, my house, my family.
I have come to America with nothing but a dream to return to my country and culture,
but I can not go back.
I have taken a leap of faith and pray
That Lady Liberty will catch me with open arms.
But that in itself is a fantasy,
The people here are unwelcoming and hostile.
I feel like a prisoner surrounded by guards,
Oh, the irony,
Trapped in the country that was supposed to set me free.
Illegal or Legal
It doesn't matter
We all face discrimination sooner or later.
It is a burden that we share, a curse
Put upon us for centuries and centuries to come.
No matter the time or place.
That is the life of an immigrant
