Sectional Track Meet
The not-so-great sectional track meet.
Heat racing
I was for sure my heart rolled down my chest.
About to step foot on the track
The sun beating down on me
all the fans cheering me on
so many people watching me
It was my relay’s turn to go
Kolby was the first runner
Set…
Beep
This is a big race you have to make it to state
Kolby got closer and closer
I started to run
Slow she said
Slow slow slow
Hit she said running out of breath
I stuck out my hand as far as it could go
It felt like my arm was being ripped out of its socket
We were so close of not making it out of the exchange zone
C’mon Lexi I heard Kolby scream
That’s all I heard when I was running
Echoes in my ear
I zoned everyone out
Everything was an echo
I felt like I went under water, but when I got close to Rose it was like
I came back up from the water I could hear everything everyone was saying
Turns out we were 0.2 seconds off from making it to state
Could’ve ran faster
Could’ve.
Could’ve.
Should’ve
That was it
The not so great sectional track meet.

I was inspired to write this poem because Track is comming up and it made me remember how I felt at my sectional track meet.
