The Sand in My Toes

There was sand in my toes
Water splashing on my feet
Shells on the beach
It was the last day summer.
Summer time is the best time:
The water is as hot as fire
The air is as thick as smoke
I breathed in like it was my last breath...
Then I woke up and it was Monday morning.
I rolled out of bed,
Got dressed,
Then headed off to school.
