You told me my eyes were
The windows to my soul
But the storms crept upon us
Open windows, wet floors

You told me you read
Read my face like a book
But all books have endings
And you didn’t bother finishing ours

You told me you felt
What I did just by looking at me
But when time conquered us
You didn't even spare me a glance

You told me a million lies
Sprinkled with truth
But you knew black coffee
Was never my favorite

You told me you loved
Us and me and you and us
But you could throw it all away
Throw us and me and you and us

You told me, you told me
But you didn't once listen
You didn't once
Let me tell you
